Bring on the golf season! The Sentry tees off this Thursday. Can't wait. Last year I placed the teams in 3 groups. This year, I've settled on the top 5 and bottom 5.... So which teams do I feel have the best shots.... Top 5 Teams Gabes - I noticed a couple of my team from last year on this list. Schauffele will continue to impress. Expect multiple wins this year. Fleetwood is due, as is Tom Kim. There are plenty of decent players in the middle and back, Straka and Echavarria stand out. Ikey - If you have Scheffler, you win. At least Al thought so last year, and he nearly did win. Victor Hovland, Cam Young (he really is due...) and a few others set this team up well. Then Scottie goes and cuts his hand requiring surgery and forcing him out of the Sentry - Is this an omen for the balance of the year?? And I read that Victor also has some issue. Not a good start, Doctor Eichler. Don't worry. It's a long year and your team will do well, even without Theegala. Sobo - Rory is the key. He can win 3 or more events. I doubt he'll stumble or succumb to the pressure. I'm not that knowledgeable on Davis Thompson, but if Sobo takes him second, he must be a player! Later picks that will impress include Jordan Spieth, Si Woo Kim, and Victor Perez. Solid team Al - Hidecki Matsuyama is so steady. One of my favorite players (including the hesitation at the top of his swing). Cantlay is the player most of us love to root against, but he keeps delivering. Expect a win or two in 2025. Really like his next picks of An and Zalatoris. Further down the roster, decent. Time will tell. Fox - Top two picks - Burns and JT will have great years. His majors team will do well with two LIV players, Jon Rahm and Bryson DeChambeau. For the rest of the PGA season, Christian B (I'm not going to try and type his last name..) will do well along with Mac Hughes from Canada. I also like his late pick, Jesper Svenssen. Bottom Half Mags - Ludvig Aberg is at the doorstep of a breakout. Will it be 2025? Stay tuned. Like Shane Lowry, a great pick in Rd 3. McNealy finally got his first win, so he may play with a little less pressure. J Day and JT Poston will contribute. Otherwise, not sure. Hans - My roster starts with Sungjae Im, a player I've always admired. Hopefully he will deliver. Bhatia is a brazen young stud. The middle of the roster includes Henley, usually steady, Rai, an up and comer from England, and Chris Kirk who has his life turned around. Bottom of the roster is a crap shoot. But I am thrilled to have Brooks Keopka for the 4 majors. (at least i hope he is eligible for all 4) Charlie - Decent first pick with Wyndahm Clark. MacIntyre was impressive in 2024. Can he repeat? I expect Max Homa to rebound and Eric Cole was a solid pick in Rd 4. His Canadian, Nick Taylor, has won on the tour, which is huge. As for the rest, I'm not overly excited about any of them. Jack - Good pick in the 3rd spot - Collin Morikawa. Expect him to deliver 2 wins in 2025. Other good team members are Brian Harman and Keegan Bradley. I know nothing about Greyserman his third pick, and can't say I expect much from second pick Billy Horschel. Bottom picks include a couple real old guys.... Charlie Hoffman and Matt Kucher. Not good picks, imo. Andy - This team, actually, could surprise. Sahith Theegala has established himself as a true top tier player (yes, Ikey, you told us he was worthy) Finau, Hoge and Corey Conners will contribute. Andy also has two players with last names too long to enter. But can they play golf with the best? I'll just call them Michael T and Nicolai H. The back end of this team is a hope and a prayer. So there you have it. Let the games begin. Hans
