2022 PGA Day 1 Conditions were better in the morning, which is when Rory McIlroy played, posting a super 65. I see that the Friday conditions will be much more windy and a likely chance for rain. I expect to see a scoreboard somewhat different from today. As for our event, The Red Foxes posted a 345, 4 shots better than Jack's Smoothies.(349). The other teams are reasonably close, so once again their will be a fair amount of movement. Other than watch Spieth putt poorly while i had lunch, I didn't see much of the action, so Al, please add your commentary. Glad to get this in before falling asleep..... Day 2 A few numbers stuck out as I reviewed the results today. 79 - the number of players who made the cut at +4 -9 Will Zalatoris score after two rounds to lead the field 63 Rd 2 score for none other than Bubba Watson! +6 two day total for the +1 player - Scottie Scheffler, who is making other plans for the weekend As for results for our pool, Gabes' Foreskins went lowest today with a stellar 340 to take a 2 shot lead into the weekend over Jack's Smoothies, who have finished second for two days in a row. At the other end of the results is our friend, Al. The Dimpled Balls are only 28 shots behind the Foreskins, but with only 4 players making the cut, will need to shoot the best scores of their lives to get even close. Fox's Red Foxes had another good day and sit in 3rd after two days. 2 teams have all 6 still playing: the Smoothies and my Ace Holes. 2 teams have 5 playings: Red Foxes and the Foreskins Ikey's Hagens Heroes, Mag's Mulligans, Sobos PInseekers and Al's Dimpled Balls each have 4 playing. That leaves Andy's Happy Hookers with only 3 still alive. The Morning / Afternoon rotation had the better of the weather. I hear it will turn cold overnight. Not sure how this will affect the scores. As always, entertaining. Good luck to all. Day 3 And the leader of the tournament at the end of the 3rd round is....... NOT in our pool! Gabes, WTF, how could you leave out Mito? You had to have watched a fair amount of the action with so many Foreskins in contention. And your low score for the day (of those on this team) was Brian Harman who was the first out on the course this morning. Oh well, this just allowed the rest of us to catch up and in some cases pass the Foreskins. Low team day 3 was none other than my Ace Holes. Lead by Cameron Young, The Holes posted 279, two better than the Dimpled Balls. So, Al, you at least cash second place on day three! Scores after 3 rounds are: Ace Holes 982 Red Foxes 985 Smoothies 986 Foreskins 988 Hagen's Heroes 991 Mulligans 992 Dimpled Balls 994 and then the Hookers and Pinseekers, who would like to withdraw, like Tiger... Some observations from the round having watched a fair amount - - Impressive course with tough greens, lots of water, including a creek meandering seemingly everywhere, and tees and greens amazingly close to one another. It is a LONG course, especially the par 3s. Just ask Rory who tripled two of them. The false fronts on some of the greens made for some interesting results. Just ask Mito who was 6 feet on #9 when his ball spun backward, down the hill, landing about 30 YARDs from where he landed.... If Zalatoris can stop pushing his 5 -7 foot putts to the right, he would have picked up at least 3 shots today. I like my young stud, Cameron Young. in 4th and will play tomorrow with Zalatoris. Young drove the par 4 17th and made the putt for eagle. Assuming the winner will come from the top 4 golfers, it will be the first PGA victory for him..... none has even one victory, so expect nerves to play a role in the action Sunday. I did correct the scores that I incorrectly posted Thursday. My apologies, Al. That said, I WELCOME any checking of my posting and scores. There may be mistakes, despite my double checking. On a personal note, I played well enough today to qualify for a spot in Edgewood Valley's Invitational in August. I haven't played in it since 1997 - a 25 year span. Looking forward to it! Good luck to all going into Sunday's round. Just about any of the teams could end on top. and regarding Tiger Woods. He looked spent at the end of his round. He had nothing to gain by playing Sunday, so I believe he made the right decision. Day 4 First, congrats to Gabes. He didn't need Mito after all, at least for purposes of taking the top spot in the league and a Major Skin. Both playoff participants were Foreskins and it could have been all three had Mito not thrown up on himself on the 72nd hole. Mito will learn from his mistakes, and will be a force going forward. I am pleased to announce that the Ace Holes took top honors for Day 4 and the over all total by 6 over the Smoothies and Red Foxes who tied for second. It has been a long time since my team has won a major pool. Please double check my entries and math if you feel a mistake was made. Watching play this Sunday was interesting to say the least. So many ups and downs I lost count, Felt bad for Matt Fitzpatrick who had more experience than the other top 4 going into the last day. Needless to say, nerves played a big factor in the outcome with Justin Thomas showing his resolve and winning. I remember Al saying he did not care for Thomas - but I have a great deal of respect for his play. The smartest thing he did at the start of the year was to hire Bones Mackay as his caddy. My pick in the playoffs was Zalatoris...... since I put $5 on him to win and another $5 to finish in the top 5. A win would have paid $215, but I'll take the $20 or whatever it pays for 2-5. Our next major pool is only a few weeks away with the US Open in Boston.
