Masters 2019 Albert's Pool Day 1 Fun first day! Great scoring conditions, big names in red numbers, great mix of young guns and seasoned veterans. As for our pool, Fox lead the way with a -13 number. Bryson -6, and no one on his team over par. Impressive. I finished 4 back. Phil and DJ had great scores, -9 together, but best the others could do was even par. Very tightly bunched between 3 and 7 after that, and Jack needs a big Day 2. Day 2 Well, on Day 1 Fox rode DeChambeau's 67 to a first place finish. But on Day 2, the Professor shoots 3 over 75. But no worries for Fox.... the HIGHEST score of his other 4 players was 4 under 68 (w 2 67's and a 66!!). He romps in Day 2 by a whopping 12 strokes. Hans edges out Jack by a stroke for second place honors. Fox has a HUGE 20 stroke lead going into the weekend. 2 thru 6 tightly packed, 5 strokes, Sobo and Jack not much further behind. Only 5 players cut... has to be a record! Bad news for Hans and Mags is that they each own two of them.... will make for a tough weekend. Jack has the other. Day 3 Fox... the sword swallowing, little bleep bleeper [so sad when author's jealousy creeps sneakily into their prose] took a day off today, finished out of the money for the day but likely cemented his win. He gave up but 4 strokes of his lead and has a 16 stroke cushion going into the final round. I like his chances. Andy took Day 3 honors, beating me by the stroke that DJ gave back on 18. I maintain a 4 stroke lead over Andy overall, one more back to Mags, 4 more back to Gabes and Hans. Jack needs a miracle and Sobo shit the bed today, a piddling 3 under when Augusta was awash in red. Day 4 First... the event. Wow. I am not a huge Tiger fan, but that was history repeating itself. The greatest golfers in the world all went backwards as Tiger played a solid back nine, and allowed him to win the event with a middling final round 70. 4 DB's by contenders on 12 changed everything. Two by rocks like Molinari and Koepka, who had already stared down Tiger in Majors.... but not today. Then DJ.... who took 13 holes to wake his ass up but played 4 under from there... and Koepka each missed birdie putts on 18 that would have forced a par from Tiger on the last. Both were very gracious, not getting to -13, and allowing Tiger to make a safe bogey on the last for the win. Never seen him that emotional, and for good reason. Pretty amazing story and comeback.... and Nantz got the chance to get all weepy, after having made Faldo cry earlier in the day. "A Tradition like No Other". For sure. OK... Cosa Nostra... Our Thing. Fox had a walk in the park today to lap the field by 12 strokes. The real action was for second and third overall as well as Day 4 honors. Gabes bested me by a stroke to take honors for the day, and his performance was good enough to leap frog him past Andy and Mags to take third overall. My team finished second for the third time this week, and that put me comfortably into second overall. I will do the $$$ soon and resend....
