PGA 2015 Albert's Pool Day 1 Only 2 strokes separated the top 4 teams in Day 1, with Gabes once again taking top daily honors on a Thur, with Ikey and Sobo splitting second, one stroke off the pace. I was one stroke further back. Just a small gap of three strokes between me and Fox, and 5 thru 8 are tightly bunched as well. We had two Did Not Starts, w M Hoffman replacing Woodland for Ikey, and Bowditch replacing DeLaet for Mags. Best alternate not starting? That honor also goes to Gabes, who would have a much bigger lead had he started the 6 under Lingmerth. Day 2 Three teams shot LIGHTS OUT on Day 2, all tied for Rd 2 honors at a sparkling 16 under par. Sobo, Ikey and Fox lit it up, beating all others by a dozen or more strokes. [Note - turns out Albert counted a score for Sobo of a withdrawn golfer so this result changes]. Sobo and Ikey are tied for the top overall, Fox 4 back. For the weekend, Sobo and Fox have 5 men playing, but Ikey all six. Gabes and I get the dildo awards, Gabes not starting Lingmerth and me not starting the tourney leader, Matt Jones. Day 3 Day and Spieth in the final group... doesn't get much better. Day blows away the pretender, Matt Jones. And Spieth fires a tidy little back nine 30 to earn his spot in the last group, two back. With great golfers like Kaymer and Rose lurking. Should be a great final day, hopefully with Day breaking thru or Spieth capping off perhaps the greatest year in Major Championship golf. Our pool had its excitement as well, with some falls from grace akin to Matt Jones. Sobo caught a bad break when Donaldson WD, and English shooting a typical weekend 76 had to count toward his 4 man total. Fox had Spieth's 65, but none of his other players broke 70, Westwood the only one under par on a day of red numbers. But Ikey played solidly and breaks away from Sobo and Fox to take a big 9 stroke lead going into final round. But his solid day was not good enough to claim Day 3 honors, as both Gabes and my teams lit it up pretty nicely, going 17 under to share Day 3 honors and enter a dogfight for Place and Show overall. Ikey leads by nine, but 4 teams are separated by 2 strokes behind him. Day 4 Great to see Jason Day break thru, but a little bit of drama would have been nice. Oh, well.... History will smile on Jordan Spieth's Major season... pretty amazing. Two wins, one stroke from a playoff in BO, and second in PGA. Barely old enough to buy a beer and already making a mark in the history of the game. Oh, btw, Tiger misses third cut in a row at a major... can u hear that tree falling in a forest? Did it make a sound? Will Sobo even start him in the Wyndham next week as he tries to somehow play his way into the FedEx playoff? How the mighty have fallen. Not much drams in our pool, either. Except for the Donaldson 63 that wasn't. Sobo let me know that the 63 was for 16 holes on Fri, when Donaldon WD. So Sobo does not tie for first on Day 2. Ikey strolls to an easy win with Place honors for Day 4.. Gabes boys post Day 4 honors and take second overall. That lucky red headed bleep bleeper beats me by obe stroke for third overall and scams me for $31.50.
