Masters 2015 Albert is traveling. Day 1 As I posted scores top to bottom, it lloked like a really tight race, with Willo and I tied for first at 283. And then I came down to the last three players, who blew the field away in Day 1. Ikey takes low honors w/ an 14 under 274, and Mags and Fox tie for second place 4 strokes back. Day 2 is critical, to see who plays on the weekend. Enjoy. From Santa Fe, New Mexico, heading out to a late (very late) dinner. Day 2 Gabes boys' somehow managed to give Gabes a moment of glory in this gol season w/ a butt kicking 16 under round 2. World # 1 McIlroy's 71 was not good enough to count for Gabes, as he rolls to a 6 stroke win and ties for the overall lead. Fox, Ikey and Mags smoked us all in Rd 1, but it was only Fox's team that could sustain that pace. His boys matched their opening day 278 to claim second place honors day 2, and tie w/ gabes for overall lead. And both have all 5 going on the weekend... like Speith, they will be very tough to catch. Mags team fell so far on day 2, they almost precluded Jack from having the worst score for Day 2. But Jack is solidly in the basement for the event, and with only 2 playing on the weekend, it is likely where he will finish. Ikey stubbed his toe but sits third w/ 4 players alive on the weekend, allowing him to discard his worst score. I sit behind Ikey, but no wiggle room on the weekend with only 3 left. JB Holmes had an AMAZING chip in birdie on 18.... to miss the cut by one. Sobo sits behind me and Ikey but has all 5 going on the weekend. Mags, Hans, Willo and Andy follow, all with 4. Hans: I saw your note about my restricting this to a 5 man team. #1 Willo only reported 5 starters. And since I only had 5, 5 man teams were logical. Finally, ur sixth player, Hahn, was cut, so I did u a favor, stop ur crying! Great day in Santa Fe. Highlight was a trip north with great scenery to Bandalier National Park.... walking thru a deep canyon, visiting ruins from 1000 years ago of Pueblo Indian villages, including climbing up into their cave homes in the sheer canyon rock walls. Day 3 and 4 I fixed the laptop network issue and a complete report is attached. While the Masters was pretty much a foregone conclusion after Friday, our pool was perhaps its most exciting and tightest ever. Fox and Gabes were ties after Fri. Fox took Day 3 honors with Sobo one back, and Ikey missing second by a single stroke. Fox opened a six stroke lead on Gabes. On Sunday, Gabes storms back, and Sobo boys matched him stroke for stroke, each sharing low team honors that day. Willo's strong 206 gets an "attaboy" but no $$$. Despite Gabes strong day, by virtue of Hunter Mahan's great weekend, Fox managed to squeak by with the win, 2 strokes ahead of Gabes who made up 4 of the six stroke deficit. Ikey's boys were solid again.... but Sobo wiped out his 5 stroke lead for third, and edged Ikey for show money by a single stroke Sobo, all gross winnings $$$ below and in the sheet. Entry fee was $35. C u for the US Open.
