PGA

Day 1 and 2

Please excuse my inability to get Rd 1 scores out... a huge T-storm blew by my home two Mondays ago, and a microburst blasted an 80 foot, dual trunked Ash tree out of its roots, one trunk on my garage roof (narrowly missing upstairs bedroom where Florence and I were packing for our trip to Bermuda) and the other landing on my carport where I park my car. Fortunately, my daughter Lauren had borrowed it to go to Cape Cod. But the Cable and Power lines were obliterated, as well as garage roof, gutters, siding, etc.... almost back in shape but still no TV, Phone, or Internet Service. I am typing from my Dad's place in the Hamptons... I was in Canada all day Thur stuck in an airport for 6 hours w/ delayed flights. Gabes: Is that enough of an excuse for missing Day 1 update? IF not, please make arrangements to fly to NY soon and blow me.

OK... on to the numbahs. Fuck Tiger. I was listening to the radio, hearing that Verplan was the leader in the clubhouse at -4, and Tiger was just about to tee off. When my work day was done as I slogged thru the rain from CT, I learned that Tiger was 2 up with a 63. Well, I know what I won't be doing this weekend, watching the PGA. This baby is over. I hate the MF, but there is NO WAY that he is a Sat leader and loses a major. Go play golf... play with the grandkids... do a picnic with the wife... but no need to watch the PGA. This baby is over.

And so is our pool. Hans had a flashback to former glory, and has kicked our butts, lapped the field, and laughed on his way to the bank. A DOMINATING performance, giving him both Day 1 and 2 honors, and a HUGE 19 point lead heading into the weekend. Of course, he must lament losing Byrd 1 above the cut line... but he has 5 golfers on the weekend.

Andy has 5 going over the weekend as well, w. Gabes having 4. I am tied for second, but only have 3, so I am meat. Once again, I lamed it up big time on selecting my team. I left both Oberholser and Villegas and Poulter off my team. All three made the cut... Obie and Villegas both in the Top Ten. Do I suck or what? I can understand starting Z Johnson and Sabbatini... but my hunch on Justin Leonard was f-ing idiotic. If you don't get Rd 3 updates it's because I decided to kill myself.

But I did tie for Day 2 second place honors. That's worth about $4. Hoo-Hoo!

Day 3 and 4

Els and Woody tried to make in interesting, but was there any doubt? When Tiger rolled in his birdie on 15, following his three putt on 14, it was over.

And Hasn left no doubt with his dominance thoughout the PGA. He took daily honors 3 of 4 days. Gabes was an easy second place finisher, as wa Andy for third.

Sobo: All $$$ below, $35 entry fee. See you all at The Masters.
