Gabes and Hans tie for second, w/ Mags one stroke behind. The DB's put up a decent number, but don't expect it to last. All I want is a win from Ernie... the rest of my team sucks. But I still kicked the asses of Willo and Prep... man, your teams SUCKKKKKKKKKK!!!!!! -------------------- And the last shall be first..... Willo's 296 in Rd 1 was UGLY. But he stormed back for an amazing Rd 2 win over Ikey, whose team stormed into second place. Prep set new standards for dismal play... despite Tiger's heroic 3 under on the last six holes to make the cut. Prep suffered the indignity of Lickliter shooting 80 on day one. Then Lickliter does a WD, having no balls to try a second round, meaning Prep must take the high score for the day. Who cards the high score? None other than Kaye... Preppie's Kaye... giving him a pair of 81's for the round. Prep resides in the basement by TWENTY THREE strokes... I am sure that that is a new record. Congratulations! Hans, Mags, and Fox have 4 golfers going over the weekend... Ikey and Gabes but 3. But most importantly... Ernie will take the major skin. Book it. -------------------- Willo continues to astound. After a Rd 1 debacle, he topped the list for Rd 2. But even after having two of his golfers cut for the weekend, his remaining three golfers... Riley, Flesh, and Micheel (not exactly the "Who's Who" of the PGA Tour, mind you!).... took on the 4 man teams of Hans, Mags, and Fox. And smoked them. Amazing that a two day winner is still no where near the Top Three slots for the entire event... but he has shaved 13 of the 21 stroke lead Fox held on him after Rd 1. Mags and Hans tied for second, each picking up 4 stokes on Fox... and Ikey's three man team also picked up a few on our leader. So Mags and Ikey are tied for second, one little stroke back, and Hans 4 man team is five further back. Prep actually picked up a few strokes on Jack... he is only 21 strokes now out of next to last. Might have only been 17 except that his bad luck in this event continues unabated. Did you see what happened to Stuart Appleby? He hit a drive way right... beyond the ropes... and into one of the 1,000 bunkers that seem to be there for window dressing, w/ nothing to do w/ the golf course. Believing it to be a "waste" area, he moved some dead grass and grounded his club. Turns out the rules were posted... ALL bunkers are hazards. Two strokes for removing the grass, two more for grounding his club. Not your tourney, Prep. But no difference in $$$ from 4th to last, so don't sweat it. Will anyone catch Vijay? I doubt it... he's a great front runner, and playing so steady. But I hope that Ernie and Phil can have a hot front nine and make it fun. --------------------- Wow... what a finish. For Fox, I mean. And Ikey, too. Who would have thought that Vijay's 4 over 76 would be good enough to win the event? And that 8 under would be good for a playoff? And that neither Mickelson nor Els, both starting at 8 under, would NOT be in the playoff? Fox seals a final day victory and an overall victory on the strength of two great scores by also-rans.... 70's from both Sluman and Choi sealed the deal. Hans and Mags tie for second overall, w/ Hans taking second for Day 4. How about the majors for Ernie and Phil? Phil was 5 strokes away from a possible Grand Slam. And Ernie was downright Norman-esque this year! Loses the Masters by 1 after shooting 67 on the last day. Played in the last group of the Open... lost a playoff in the British, and bogeyed the 72nd hole in the PGA to miss a playoff by a stroke. The Big Cheesy. Better still... the Big Weasy. Lots of fun... a great golf season... Vijay is Player of the Year... and Woods is no better than the fourth best player in the world these days. Of course, none is this is as important as the Championship that will be held at Paw Paw. I'll be tuning my HDCP between now and then, and I'll see you in October. Babs --------------------- Wow! The Bunkers collectively played like they were stoned for the entire day (worst team score of the day!) but Vijay hung in there for the W. Incredible golf course, much more playable on Sunday than Shinnecock but still VERY difficult. Felt bad for Leonard (well...not that bad...). Great fun! Where can I order a highlight DVD of the upcoming CZ Championship? Is the PGA handling this or the USGA? Best, TE
