Guys, There were five suggestions made for the 2002 RotoGolf format. The Commissioner's office is adopting one and rejecting four. Here are the details: 1) Preppy wanted an auction for Tiger and possibly for other top golfers. This idea has been rejected by the Commissioner. 2002 draft order will be: 1) Prep 2) Andy 3) Ikey 4) Willo 5) Mags 6) Al 7) Sobo 8) Gabes 9) Hans 10) Jack 11) Fox 2) Someone suggested lowering cadddy fees to one dollar. This idea has been rejected. Caddy moves will remain at $2 each. [Late news flash ... this idea IS being adopted.] 3) Sobo suggested that every PGA event, other than the majors, should have a weekly skin riding on the outcome. This idea has been rejected. The Commisssioner's office is concerned about skins rollovers to weeks when there are two tournaments. Which tourney gets the rollover? The Commissioner does not want to make those decisions during the season. Things will remain as is. That means no weekly skins on the majors (only a Grand Slam skin), and only one weekly skin on weekends that have two tournaments. Like last year, the rules will state before the season begins which tournaments have skins riding on them when there are two tournaments in play. As always, the Commissioner's decision is final. 4) Fox wanted to eliminate the small field tournaments from the low team score side bet. The Commissioner's office rejects that idea. First of all, the fine fellow didn't even participate in that side bet. Secondly, I see no need to change. 5) Fox suggtested that the rules should be changed to read that your golfer can get a number lower than 70 if they get cut or withdraw from a tournament with a field smaller than 70. For example, if a golfer withdraws from a tournament that has only 30 players, he will be given a 30 rather than a 70. This change will be made to the rules. If, however, a player is invited to a small field tourney but does not attend (like Mickelson this year at the TC), he will be assigned a DNP, and therefore, a 70 for scoring purposes. A golfer must show up for play in order to receive a number lower than 70 in tournaments that have fields smaller than 70. Also, there were a few times this year where players were not cut, but they did not play in the final round or two because of weather or some other reason. Those players still received money, and therefore, they were not considered to have been cut. In those instances, the Commissioner's Office may assign a number to those golfers lower than 70. In other words, players could be given a number lower than 70 if they were not cut but if they did not complete a final round or two. The draft will begin on Friday, December 21st. We will not draft on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. The draft will resume on December 26th. The Mercedes Championship starts on January 3rd, so I'd like to have the draft finished before January 1st and have starting rosters set no later than January 2nd. Start studying! Gabes
