It's time for Hans' annual prediction for the finish of the CyberZahm Rotobaseball league. Again this year, I have reviewed the current teams using the final stats from 2003. While this may not be a great indicator of success this year, we all know that Konerko will have another shitty year, so in alot of respects, history does repeat itself. The following compares the twelve teams in the 9 catagories, using 2003 stats. at the bottom, I will provide my comments. Team R HR RBI SB BA W S K ERA Paper cuts 1061 241 968 146 2929 97 56 1190 3.284 Bbusters 962 232 859 135 2795 92 3 981 3.872 Bombers 1132 320 1239 102 2966 105 29 1010 3.940 Expects 1224 279 1147 147 2858 88 7 1014 3.684 Hogs 1098 274 996 101 2891 104 74 1161 3.843 L'nuts 1189 301 1103 178 2849 93 87 1085 3.028 Mazins 997 301 1052 190 2793 101 34 1330 3.632 Panzas 1121 316 1049 100 2800 103 43 1261 3.540 P'stripes 1230 350 1266 86 2868 90 73 1084 3.932 P'Jackers 1147 234 998 181 2891 110 69 1208 3.783 RedFoxes 1048 271 1006 132 2756 60 91 905 3.577 Tamales 1222 306 1163 121 2884 86 71 1095 3.965 I looked at the above results in terms of top three finish in a catagory, and bottom three finish in a catagory. Best on the board are two: Prep's nuts and Jacks Jackers, with a rating of +3. The Nuts have three top three, all strong efforts in SB, S and ERA, and zero bottom catagories - the only team with this distinction. The Jackers top three catagories are SB, BA, and W, while HR pop lacks with a bottom three Next are the Panzas, with a +2 rating. Three top three cataories are HR, K's and ERA, with one bottom three in SB. With a rating of +1 are the Bombers and Pinstripes. The Bombers have wide swings.. 4 tops in HR, RBI, BA and W, and three bottoms: S, K, and ERA. The 'Stripes have 3 tops, in R, HR and RBI (very heavy lumber on this team) and one bottom - SB, so no speed. Then comes my Paper Cuts, the Hogs, Mazins and Tamales. All are Net Zero. The Cutters have two tops, BA and ERA, and two tanks, HR and RBI. Hogs tops are W and S, bottoms are RBI and SB. Mazins are very strong in SB and K's, lagging in R and Ba. The K's lead by a whole lot.... The Tamales are strong in two hitting catagories, R and RBI, and stink in W and ERA, again a net zero. two teams remain. First, is Terry's Expects with a minus 1. one strong catagory is R, with W and S in the tank. but the suprise of the analysis is the bottom of the stats. Mr Roto Magazine has 6, count em 6 catagories in which they finish in the bottom three. And NO top threes. With a Minus 6 rating, the Ball Busters trail in R, HR, RBI, BA, S and K. Amazing. But these are last year's numbers. This years finish will depend on which team stays healthy, and which owner buckles under Sobos pressure to make trades in the middle of the season. I am anxiously awaiting the real start of the baseball season tonight. Good luck to all. I hope you all tie for second, right behind the Paper Cutters. Hans [Editor's note .. Hans forgot to analyze the Foxes .. We end up at -3, bottom of the pack. Ha ha ha ha!]
