The tamales were seen with fox fur coming out of their mouths. Former stud player Red Fox could not be reached for comment. --------------------------------------------------------------------- From Gabes to Fox: You're not a Red Fox. You're a Red Jack Ass! And, I predict you'll have a red ass because Sobo just gave you the butt bleepin' of all butt bleepings. Look for Griffey to post .320+, 40, 80 numbers in the remaining portion of the season. The good news: the Foxes will not be as competitive in the offensive categories. The bad news: you may have just given Sobo first place. You jack ass! Fox --------------------------------------------------------------------- Mags wrote: Fox, Nice trade. I think you got the better end of the deal, because Burks can put up decent numbers and Griffey has the burden of being the new hero in town. Those moves are valuable too (don't I know it). Now if I were you, I'd start worrying because Mags thought it was a good deal. Griffey, one of the best players in the game, for a broken down Burks and two moves, one of which will be used for Mr. Burps very soon, makes this the most ridiculous trade in the history of CyberZahm roto sports. Pathetic! Gabes --------------------------------------------------------------------------- Gabes, I disagree. Aren't you the guy who was ready to reserve Derek Jeter a couple of weeks ago for some no-name shortstops? Sure Griffey is one of the best players in the game, but he is struggling, maybe with the NL pitchers, maybe with the park, maybe with the pressure of being the savior of Cincinatti. Burks is in a hitter-friendly park and is very productive. Two reserve moves for a team with as many P problems as the Foxes is pretty valuable. I think it was a pretty good deal for Fox, and a good gamble for Sobo. That said, I haven't been a very good judge of offensive players this year either. If I were Fox, I would have insisted on Andruw Jones. Mags --------------------------------------------------------------------------- And Gabes replies: Mags, my friend, did you really think I was giving up on Jeter? I was just trying to stir things up a little. Having a little fun. Seeing what the reaction would be. You know me. In the end though, there is no way I'd give up on a first round pick, and one of the best players in today's game, just because they had a slow first third of the season. There's still two thirds of a season to be played. If Jeter is a life time .300 hitter, odds are good he'll hit .340 in the second half of a season if he hit .260 in the first half. After suffering through the bad stretches, why not wait for the good stretches? > Sure Griffey is one of the best players in > the game, Which is exactly why Fox shouldn't have traded him. > but he is struggling, maybe with the NL pitchers, maybe with the park, > maybe with the pressure of being the savior of Cincinatti. All good reasons for a slow start, and even better reason to think that once he gets familiar with everything (like about now) he'll go on a tear that will make Sobo's > Burks is in a > hitter-friendly park and is very productive. Burks is a broken down hanger on. He can't play everyday and is a reserve move in waiting. That southwest wind I felt this morning was Sobo's exhale as I'm sure he was holding his breath throughout the first two months that Burps wouldn't hit the 60 day DL. > Two reserve moves for a team with as > many P problems as the Foxes is pretty valuable. Fox could have traded other players and received at least one reserve move. In the end, that's all he'll probably get out of the trade anyway since one of those two moves will be used on Burks before long. > I think it was a pretty good > deal for Fox, and a good gamble for Sobo. I predict it will be a lousy deal for Fox and a steal for Sobo, one that may clinch first place for him. Gabes --------------------------------------------------------------------------- TAP wrote Does Fox realize that Tiger Woods is not available in next year's baseball draft? A Concerned Owner --------------------------------------------------------------------------- Al wrote Fox, Oooooh... those jabs keep coming! And when the Leathernuts owner starts giving you shit on trades... man, you have hit rock bottom. But I guess Prep's new co-owners put the shackles on his trades w/o their approval... so Sobo had to turn to you. Al --------------------------------------------------------------------------- Fox finally replies: Griffey for Burks and two moves. It has been called "the most ridiculous trade in the history of CyberZahm roto sports. Pathetic!" Hmmm ... Well, it might not turn out well for the Foxes. Griffey could start hitting better (actually except for batting average his numbers aren't bad now, although lately he's been awful). Burks' knees could finally sideline him for good. The reserve moves I use could end up being worthless. Yup, it could be a disaster. On the other hand Griffey could stay in a funk all year, missing ARod and Edgar behind him. He sure is taking longer to adjust to NL pitchers than Edmonds for example. And Burks could fight through another year of playing 5 times a week and putting up very good numbers (last year he had 31 HRs and 96 RBIs). And the reserve moves could salvage my devastated pitching staff and give me a chance to contend for the title. Yes fellow owners and fan, that is what it is all about, contending for the title. It takes guts to trade a big name like Griffey, and it takes guts to wear the cyberzahm roto baseball crown, something Mr. "worst trade in history" knows nothing about, and probably never will as long as he can't pull the trigger on big time deals. As I alluded to in a private correspondance, he is a scaredy cat. And so is his brother McDoormat. Take that! So it could be a great trade for the Foxes, or for the Tamales, or could end up even or it could mean nothing, but at least I can go to sleep at night knowing I wasn't afraid to wheel and deal in the big time and that I did my best to give the Foxes a shot at it all. Sincerely, Foxes Management PS Stats from the past 10 days, courtesy of RotoWorld: Griffey 3/27 = .111 bavg 4 runs 1 hr 1 rbi 0 sb and 11 K's Burks 11/27 = .407 bavg 7 runs 2 hr 7 rbi 1 sb and 5 K's --------------------------------------------------------------------------- Andy writes: Outfoxed One, Scaredy Cat, my ass. I'm doing the best that I can to contend with a horrible pitching crew (yeah, my bad, so what), and some very untimely injuries to key offensive contributors following a dismal April start. It's only June. Stay tuned. Stats for the last 11 days? Who cares? I believe it's the next eleven plus that matters. Face it: You're a dope and you got skinned by Sobo, a first class Fox-skinner. Fox tails fly from his antenna as he puts you further and further behind in his rear-view mirror. You didn't give the Foxes a shot at it all, you shot the Foxes. Even The Fan knows it. Take that! Mazins --------------------------------------------------------------------------- Fox, I never said you had little balls. In fact, this deal proves you may have the biggest balls in all CyberKingdom. I'm afraid though, that your asshole may also become quite large from the butt bleepin' Tamale Griffey will give you in the months ahead. Gabes --------------------------------------------------------------------------- I agree with Gabes. The season's over; I win. But I don't like to name call in public and I know how sensitive Gabes is and how he gets embarassed at such rough language. Finally, though I decided he need taken down a notch, which is why I made the scaredy cat comment public. I apoligize - don't know what got into me. So now that's all been aired publically I think we should just put it all behind us and move on. OK Gabes? OK you bleeping dweeb asshole pinhead stuck in the mud lower division scuz ball? From the Foxes, moving ever upward. PS (I put the "behind us" statement above because I do love being Gabes' straight man and I just know he won't be able to resist that.) ------------------------------------------------------------------- Mr. Red Jack Ass, kiss my (*)! Gabes ------------------------------------------------------------------- Hey, guys. Let's take it easy on the 'ol ICC. I think we should just pat him on the back and say, "you'll get him next time," even though he just let the biggest fucking brain fart I've ever heard. Amazed At The Major Steamer, Prep ------------------------------------------------------------------- Gentlemen, I enjoyed the scruteny given to the "Griffey" trade yesterday and will try to capture that thread to place it on the web for future analysis. I don't really want to open the topic back up but I do want to point out one little thing ... for those of you who follow important meaningful things, like statistics, instead of just blindly following the national press' opinions of somebodies unwarrented reputation, consider yesterday's action. Many predicted that I will not get many At Bats from Burks. Well yesterday he had SIX at bats, just in 1 game! Fifty percent more than Junior. Put that in your pipe and smoke it. Fox PS There is no need for you to check the box score. He had six at bats. Trust me. ------------------------------------------------------------------- >Fox, > >But as a statistician of your calibre, isn't there something to be said >about "representative sample size"? > > > >Al ------------------------------------------------------------------- Al, Burks: 0 fer 6.
