Dave: Mille Lacs is on US 169 approximately 100 miles north of the Twin Cities. It's a major walleye lake, which would require a guide and boat. Pengilly is approximately 185 miles north of the Twin Cities. Best routes are I35 north to Moose Lake, then US 73 to Floodwood, then US 2 west to US 65, then US 65 north to Pengilly. Or: US 65 north from the Cities directly to Pengilly. We can certainly make Pengilly the base of operations for the whole weekend. Lodging, boat and guide expense is eliminated and there is plenty of fishing right there. It would be easier to hook up with Hans, who apparently is coming over from the Duluth/Cloquet area. Count on a 3.5 hour drive from the Cities. We could leave either Wednesday night or Thursday morning in my van. Talk it over with Gabes and Andy and let me know your timing. I'll check with Terry to see if he is coming. Prep ********************* Prep: Regarding the proposed itinerary: We'll have to coordinate the meeting place. Gabes, Andy and I will be coming from somewhere else in Minnesota, where Ann Marie's mother lives. As my earlier message indicated, we'll be trout fishing on Wednesday and were planning on heading directly to Pengilly from there. It would be helpful to minimize the number of vehicles, if possible. Where is Mille Lacs in relation to Minneapolis and Pengilly? Where is Swan Lake? I see no need to be driving all over Minne-bleeping-sota. Let's get to the cabin and use that as our base of operation. D.D.
